Terms of Service

1. Acceptance

By using Sparrow Web Chat ("the Service"), you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

2. Description

Sparrow Web Chat is a self-hosted AI chat application that connects to third-party AI providers. The Service acts as an interface — AI-generated responses are produced by the selected provider, not by us.

3. Accounts

You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials. You must provide a valid email address and must not share your account with others.

4. Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

Use the Service for any unlawful purpose.
Attempt to gain unauthorized access to other users' data.
Circumvent rate limits or security controls.
Upload malicious files or content.

5. AI-Generated Content

AI responses may be inaccurate, biased, or inappropriate. You are solely responsible for how you use AI-generated content. We make no warranties regarding the accuracy or suitability of AI outputs.

6. Free-Tier EchoNest Models & Training Data

Free-tier models available through the EchoNest provider are served via OpenRouter's free endpoints. As a condition of free access, conversations using free-tier models may be used by the upstream model providers for training and improvement purposes. This applies only to free-tier EchoNest models (identified by their zero credit cost).

Paid-tier models (Standard, Premium, and Heavy) available on Pro and Teams plans do not have this training data requirement — your conversations with paid models are not shared for training.

If you do not wish your data to be used for model training, you should either:

Upgrade to a Pro or Teams plan and use paid-tier models, or
Use your own API keys (Bring Your Own Model) with any provider, which are governed by that provider's own data policies.

7. Data & Privacy

Your use of the Service is also governed by our Privacy Policy.

8. Service Availability

We provide the Service on an "as is" basis. We do not guarantee uptime or availability. We may modify, suspend, or discontinue the Service at any time.

9. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, we shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of the Service.

10. Termination

We may terminate or suspend your access at any time, with or without cause. Upon termination, your right to use the Service ceases immediately.

11. Changes

We reserve the right to modify these terms. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance.
